Mineral Bone Disorder

What is it?

This is a series of disorders produced in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), affecting calcium, phosphorus and parathyroid hormone metabolism. They can simultaneously compromise the individual's bone system.

What does this cause?

For different reasons, the patient's blood calcium level drops.

Phosphorus and parathyroid hormone levels rise above the normal ranges.

Symptoms

Bone pain, patients  who are prone to fractures.

Dry skin, pruritus (commonly  known as itchiness).

Circulatory problems and increased risk of cardiac or vascular disease.

Calcium and/or phosphate deposits under the skin or other organs of the body.
